The Minority in Parliament has charged president Akufo-Addo to end what they described as the increasing culture of “impunity and lawlessness” being witnessed in Ghana.

This comes after an army officer, Capt. Maxwell Mahama was ghastly lynched and burnt to death by residents of Denkyira Boase in the Central region.
Capt. Mahama died in the dastardly act after he was mistaken to be an armed robber. He was a military officer with the 5th Infantry Batallion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but on detachment duties in Denkyira Boase.
Commiserating with the family of the fallen soldier the Minority in a statement Tuesday condemned the brutality meted out on Capt. Mahama, imploring government as a matter of urgency to explore all legal and legitimate means to bring the perpetrators to books as soon as possible. Also they urged the military high command to exercise restraint as the matter is being dealt with.
Meanwhile, president Akufo-Addo has pledged to ensure those involved in the murder are dealt with in accordance with the law.
Distraught by the news of the gruesome murder of the young captain, Akufo-Addo in a series of tweets assured that “No one will go free.”

While commiserating with the military high command and Officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces on this sad loss, we urge them to continue to exercise restraint as the matter is being dealt with.
We also wish to express our sincere and heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, especially the wife and children.

We wish to take this opportunity to call on government to put an end to the culture of impunity and lawlessness which is pervasive across the country.
Ghana has been universally acclaimed as an oasis of peace, order and stability, and everything must be done to ensure that this enviable record bequeathed to the New Patriotic Party government is sustained.
